Instructions
- Choose a single page OR double-page spread from EITHER Aquablue, Aquablue: The Blue Planet, or The Initiates. Either screen capture OR photograph the whole page, or series of panels, or details, individually (depending upon how much space/detail you find you need to use.
- Upload your image/images into Google Drawings (or any other image annotation tool that you might prefer, but Google Drawings is pretty easy and free, plus we have used it together in class). Annotate the image to highlight everything you notice that seem significant, visually/artistically. This may involve drawing lines or circling things with the scribble tool, you may choose to add text boxes for note-like commentary, you may use shapes tools. (there’s no RIGHT way to do it, just mark up the image in a way that helps you show what you notice so that it’s easy for your classmates to notice the same things, too.
- You may find the Vocabulary page in the Student Resources section to be helpful.
- After you have annotated your page/details, please save these as (for ex. as .jpgs) to use as illustrations to your video or text posts.

- Please comment on/explain your annotations. Be sure to use accurate adjectives to describe everything (e.g. color may be bright/flat/saturated/transparent/pastel, etc., lighting may be chiaroscuro, lines may be heavy, solid, light, feathery, etc.; body shapes may be caricatural, grotesque, exaggerated, and so on.) How does each element of the drawing(s)/page layout/relationship of panels to the other seem important to you?
- IN ADDITION to explaining, each visual/formal element (“formal element” = element of comics form) that you highlighted, please give at least *some* commentary on what how you think the form works with meaning.
