ASOC 115 Albany College of Pharmacy Congressional Research Service Discussion
Im working on a Social Science question and need guidance to help me study.
Simple and quick question:
In this exercise, we’re going to take a look at the people who hold political power at the federal level in the US. For the first part of the exercise, this report by the Congressional Research Service presents a profile of the 116th Congress. Scan through the report (you don’t have to read the entire report closely), and answer the following questions. You can answer them in a paragraph, or in point form.
- How many members of the House of Representatives in the 116th Congress had no educational degree beyond a high school diploma?
- The report also provides some comparisons with previous Congresses. In the 87th Congress (1961-1962), what percentage of House members and Senators held Bachelor’s degrees?
- List at least two occupations formerly held by members of the 116th Congress that belong in the upper-middle class, two occupations from the middle class, and two occupations from the working class. Refer back to the textbook if you need examples.
After that, read this article on the wealth of the 115th Congress (unfortunately, I couldn’t find a similarly detailed article on the wealth of the 116th Congress, so this one’s slightly dated). Write a short paragraph about your opinion on the social class background of members of Congress (with attention to their education, former occupations, and wealth), and how their background affects their ability to govern and represent their constituents. Think about how some aspects of their social class might make them more effective representatives, and how other aspects of their social class might make them less effective representatives.
PS:Accurate and professional answers are required
