Help me study for my English class. Im stuck and dont understand.
Your job is to find an “op-ed” or an opinion-based editorial about a current event. You will then respond to its content by countering the positions held by the author of the op-ed or by confirming it through adding additional points to their original argument.
The first part of this assignment will require you to briefly summarize the main points or central premises of the article that you choose. Do not forget to introduce your article and summarize and contextualize appropriate background information so that your reader understands the necessary information within that article. Also, please only write in 3rd Person POV to create a voice of authority and objectivity.
The second part of this assignment will require you to do outside research in order to persuade or dissuade your audience from the original authors POV, by responding with additional facts, studies, reports, publications, personal experiences, etc). You should have at least 4-5 additional sources aside from the original article your essay is responding to.
Your paper should be 5-6 pages Times New Roman 12 pt. font double spaced MLA format with a Works Cited Page.
Your paper should include elements discussed in this class including an intro with an arguable thesis, premises that support your POV, and a conclusion that wraps up the information that you have presented in your work.
