Diablo Valley College Pro Slavery Reform Proposal Discussion

In at least 600 words, using the information found in the documents and videos, come up with your own proposals for how to reform the institution of slavery from a mid-nineteenth century perspective. Some possibilities might include making slavery more humane, eliminating the slave trade, allowing slaves to read and write, setting up a gradual emancipation plan, etc. Of course, some delegates might decide that slavery is fine the way it is and will make arguments for why slavery should not be reformed at all. This will be an open forum so be creative with your solutions. Just make sure that, whatever proposals you come up with, they are designed to address issues you found in the documents and/or videos. Also, since this is a pro-slavery convention, no abolitionist positions would be allowed. For any documents or videos that showed the inhumanity of slavery, use them to demonstrate how slavery can be reformed to address those concerns without actually getting rid of slavery itself, even though that could be the ultimate goal for some reformers.
