ENVSTY 230 Northeastern University Label Description Paper
Question Description
1. A sustainability label or ecolabel is some identifier that identifies a product that is made in a more socially or environmentally friendly way. For example, on fish, sometimes you see a “Marine Stewardship Council / MSC” label (Attachment 1). The MSC is the label NAME, the PRODUCT is wild harvested fish, and the ATTRIBUTE is what is special about the product (for MSC seafood, it indicates these fish are from a well managed fishery). Look through something you recently bought (food, healthcare product, cleaning supply) that has a label on it. What is the NAME of the label you found?
2. What is the PRODUCT that your label addresses? (note that the product may not be the thing it is on. Energy efficiency labels are about energy, not about the hot water heater it is on).(attachment 2)
3. What is the ATTRIBUTE your label covers?
4.Take a picture of the label, save it, and upload it here
5. How many additional labels are on your product besides the one you selected (note the product name is the LOGO – sometimes logos look like ecolabels, but they are not).
