Late assignments will lose 1 point (out of 7) for each day (or fraction of the day) late. After a week, there will be no points available for that week’s assignment.

Please keep in mind the following from the syllabus.

A review is a critical evaluation. According to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill Writing Center, a review has three main parts:[1]

  • First, a review gives the reader a concise summary of the content. This includes a relevant description of the topic as well as its overall perspective, argument, or purpose.
  • Second, and more importantly, a review offers a critical assessment of the content. This involves your reactions to the work under review: what strikes you as noteworthy, whether or not it was effective or persuasive, and how it enhanced your understanding of the issues at hand.
  • Finally, in addition to analyzing the work, a review often suggests whether or not readers would appreciate it (and why or why not).

Finally, as you write your paper, keep in mind:

  • You should properly reference the work of others, including in-text citations and a reference page. Any generally recognized and accepted format is fine.

Rubric

A paper – Summarize the major themes of the paper/video and make an argument; indeed, think of your review as commentary on the paper/video, not merely a summary. Additionally, draw upon and make connections to course material in your review.

B paper – Summarize the major themes of the paper/video and make an argument; indeed, think of your review as commentary on the paper/video, not merely a summary.

C paper – Summarize the major themes of the paper/video.

After this grading, 1 point will be deducted for grammar and spelling issues (anything more than a few).
