I’m working on a Communications question and need guidance to help me study.

Please put the essays (double-spaced and 12-point font) into one Word document, but make sure to separate them into two different essays with individual lists of references. Therefore, each essay should present its own thesis (introduction/conclusion) and evidence (body paragraphs).

Please make sure that your essays are not simply opinion-based. Support your claims with specific evidence. You should make direct references (cited correctly) to course material.

Remember, to balance your essays with examples from the readings, lessons and films/video clips. Lots of examples and films/video clips to choose from, you can’t talk about everything, so make sure to pick a few examples that best illustrate your main point. Therefore, you have to be very concise with these essays.

Do NOT regurgitate all of your notes.

• Introduction: The purpose of the introduction is to tell the reader about your topic, your argument, and its importance. You may define specific concepts related to the subject and stress the importance of the subject. Avoid starting with a dictionary definition or limiting your argument to one.
• Body section: You may create the structure of an essay based on a specific question and think about making good transitions between paragraphs for the logical flow of your ideas/arguments. The body section is not a descriptive list of the summarized articles/lessons that you have reviewed. The referenced examples and events should focus on your specific topic and present a relationship among existing evidence, and relating them to your work, leading to the focal interest of the paper.

Gathering and organizing your evidence:

• • Take your own notes of articles/lessons and evaluate them to organize the structure of the paper.
  • Be sure to include citations in your notes. If you directly quote other authors’ ideas, you should provide quotation marks and page numbers clearly in your in-text citation. You should clearly distinguish your ideas and text from those of the other authors to avoid plagiarism.
  • For instance:
    • According to Kim (2009), “students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time” (p. 199).
    • “Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time” (Kim, 2009, p. 199).
• Conclusion:
  • This section addresses what you learn from the writing, and what parts of the information you like to emphasize to educate the readers.

  2) How would you define and explain globalization historically and within today’s political and economic structure?

  1. To answer this, explain how globalization can be seen as a historical process. Pay attention to the reading and lessons that highlight how globalization has been talked about historically. Hint: Are today’s debates about globalization any different or are they similar to historical debates about globalization.
  2. Assuming the Internet has played a major role in speeding up the processes of globalization, how has this expanding technology helped shape today’s political and economic systems? How does the concept electronic colonization fit into this discussion? (Hint: see readings)
