The highschool group has requested that you explain your understanding of the problem and recommend a national response to this issue.

Using the scientific information presented in Dr. Cordero’s talk write a 500-750 word memorandum to the SAVUS student group.

Writing Tips

Summary

Write a brief (one paragraph) summary of Dr. Cordero’s explanation of anthropogenic climate change. Be sure to include the correlation between carbon emissions and global warming. You do not have to get into specifics (yet!), but you must generally describe the science that Dr. Cordero detailed in his talk. Add your roadmap statement which clarifies your stance on this problem.

Discussion

Your discussion should include TEA paragraphs focused on each of the following components of Dr. Cordero’s talk:

• Summarize Dr. Cordero’s explanation of how the catalytic cycle depletes ozone and how this problem was solved. Clarify the difference between the Ozone Hole and Climate Change.
• Explain the current projections for ozone recovery, according to Cordero, and what role the Montreal Protocol had in this change, according to Cunningham and Cunningham (your textbook authors) include APA citation. (Use your textbook to find this information)
• Explain the science of climate change as presented in the talk. (this may take a couple of TEAs)
• Describe some solutions for adapting to and/or mitigating climate change.

Recommendation

Make a policy recommendation that will address the issue of anthropogenic climate change. Consider examining some of the Democratic National Primary candidate positions, such as the Green New Deal in your recommendation, or use the three-step plan presented in the talk.

NOTE: Your memorandum discussion section will require more than three TEAS in order to fully develop this discussion topic with one topic per paragraph.
