Temple University Nan Madol Research
Question Description
I have already started a research paper about Nan Madol, use this and continue finding more information and making sure some of these questions are answered. Please read what I have first so you do not write the exact same thing. Add on to it and expand on the research that I have so far. Below are some questions to find additional information on. It needs to be about 4000 words or more. Please go into the depth a lot more with the research then what I have. Paper must include a bibliography, footnotes, and list of illustrations and image credits, Chicago style. You can add images that also support explanation.
Citations indicative of interest by international institutions: the US National Park Service and the Kahn Academy. Why is it considered the most fascinating Pacific community? Who were the Saudeleurs? Did they arrive from other islands? Did they trade with other islands? Was the archaeological site used just for ceremonial, administrative and/or market purposes, or did the elite actually live there? Were the rock structures and canals between them defensive, e.g. against other peoples? The ocean? Who or what? Is it known what was built by the Saudeleurs and what by their conquerors? Are structures on Nan Madol unique to that island or is similar construction found elsewhere in Micronesia? As you move forward, what do you see for the future? Is the nation of Micronesia taking the lead in the research and planning? Or other parties? Find any info about plans to prioritize and pursue investigations? To invest in stabilization? To plan for preservation, sharing of findings, promotion of tourism, collaboration with other islands? other economic development?
