University of Florida American Revolution Museum Lab Report
Help me study for my History class. Im stuck and dont understand.
Directions
1) Choose one (1) visually-interesting primary source. This could be a painting, a cartoon, a broadside, a newspaper advertisement, or even a piece of material culture such as clothing or a teapot. There are links to several digital collections below, but you may search others.
2) Post the image to this discussion thread. Underneath the image provide a “label” of at least 300 words.
3) The label should put the image in context and explain its significance for understanding some aspect of the Revolutionary era (1750-1800). Make at least two specific connections to lecture, assigned readings, or the American Yawp textbook chapters. Do we know when it was made and by whom? Be specific if possible. Why was it made? What does it reveal about its historical era? What relevant context/background is not visible in the source?
4) Underneath the label, ask two (2) questions that will guide the viewer into thinking more deeply about the image as a form of evidence.
5) Comment on the labels of at least two other students by answering one (1) of their questions, each.
