I don’t understand this English question and need help to study.

Task 1/Reading and Annotating: Read“The Ethics of Reading” by Jane Gallop, using the reading guide to help you discover the most important ideas.

Task 2/Composing to Learn: Think about the following and write some notes: In your own words, what does Gallop mean by “close reading”? What are the benefits of close reading? Why is close reading said to be ethical? Why is close reading important when you do college reading? Why is it particularly important if you read a text by someone you disagree with, don’t like, or may have stereotyped?

Task 3/Composing to Learn: Think about and take notes about a time when you read something or had a conversation with someone that you found difficult because it was hard for you not to pre-judge the text or person based on your own opinions or assumptions. Have you read something or had a conversation with someone when it was hard to close read/close listen because the text/person represented something “other” than yourself—for example a different gender, age, sexuality, political orientation, religion, culture, race, etc.? (Note: these reflections can be hard, especially if you strive to be honest, but they are important because they teach you both about college reading and about yourself.

Task 4/Composing to Communicate: Use your thoughts and notes from Parts 2 and 3 to write a paper with 2-3 well-organized paragraphs.
